An Economics graduate from St. Joseph University in Beirut, Ivan Samaha was first tutored in Latin and Ballroom Dances during 1992 by Eddy Ferzly (ISTD graduate) at Geisha Club. In 1994, he became a Professional Social Dance teacher then Dancesport teacher in 1997 in both styles Latin & Ballroom. Self Starter (Autodidactic) by nature, Ivan acquired part of his learning in Latin & ballroom dancing through personal research, due to the lack of professional dance schools in Lebanon at that time. He later attended courses in teaching and competitive dancing with reputable teachers and Champions in England, France & Germany , therefore improving his dance techniques to higher standards of International Dance Sport. He also took part in many Dance Festivals and Workshops around Europe.
In addition to couple dancing, Ivan accomplished in 1999, five years of training in Jazz & Classical Ballet at Arabesque Dance studios. He was also initiated in Modern, Contemporary dances & Lebanese Folkloric dances. His efforts first became fruitful in 2001, when he was commended in his Licentiate Ballroom Dance Teaching exam at the biggest organization for Dance Teachers worldwide located in London. In 2003, he got two other teaching diplomas: A highly commended Licentiate degree in Latin American and Viennese Waltz Dances. Since then, he reinforced the level of Dancing in Lebanon by organizing the first Dancesport Workshops with eminent International teachers & dancers.
In October 2001, Ivan launched a Dance School at Private Club by adding other styles of dances like Classical and Jazz Ballet, Flamenco, Hip Hop & Lebanese Folklore. Co-founder of the “Lebanese Dancesport Federation” in 1999, Ivan was an active member in LDSF Presidium where he held the positions of Accountant then General Secretary. He also presided a control committee & succeeded to reduce discrepancies within judging by fifty percent in 2008.
From 2009 till 2013, Ivan took Part with Mazen Kiwan & the BITF committee in organizing the annual international event : The Beirut International Tango Festival.
